     “O gás difuso ionizado em galáxias”*

    Resumo:
    Há várias perguntas em aberto sobre o gás difuso ionizado: qual sua origem, qual sua composição e quais fontes o ionizam. Esse gás é observado em diferentes regiões das galáxias (no disco, acima do disco, nos bojos e no interior de regiões HII) e pode ter origens e propriedades distintas em cada uma delas. Além disso, o gás difuso ionizado pode ser responsável por mais da metade da emissão nebular observada. Essa emissão é usada para inferir parâmetros astrofísicos importantes, como abundâncias químicas e taxas de formação estelar. Apresento como cubos de dados espectrais nos permitem mapear o gás difuso em galáxias espirais. Mostro também como sua contribuição pode enviesar medidas de abundâncias químicas e taxas de formação estelar.
