Ivan Helmuth Bechtold

Bachelor’s in Physics at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina – UFSC (1997), master’s in Physics at Universidade de São Paulo (2000), and PhD. in Physics at Universidade de São Paulo (2004). Associate professor at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina since 2006. The research activities are focused on the field of condensed matter physics by investigating organic and hybrid materials for application in optoelectronic devices such as OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes), OFETs (organic field-effect transistors), OPVs (organic photovoltaics), and biosensors. Among the materials are liquid crystals, polymers, small molecules, and organometallic complexes. Particular interest in nanostructuring processes, surface treatments, and thermal annealing as a way to modify and control the photophysics and electro-optical properties of the materials applied to devices. Coordinator of the Laboratory of Organic Optoelectronics and Anisotropic Systems (LOOSA). Scientific director of the Brazil-MRS (Sociedade Brasileira de Pesquisa em Materiais – SBPMat) (2019 to 2021). Coordinator of Graduate Program on Physics at UFSC (09/2015 a 09/2021).
